We will start the term by looking at the wonderful poetry anthology 'Poems from the Second World War' compiled by Gaby Morgan. Through this collection of poems skills of retrieval, inference, prediction and summarising are developed, with children being supported to apply these skills across several poems. Through the use of this resource, children will explore the many voices represented through the poems and have the opportunity to write their own poem as well as choose a favourite poem, identifying a phrase that speaks to them and writing a blurb.
